the adaptor
Depending on what game you wish to play you set the keys to different buttons
Say if u want the RB on the controller to be say L on the key, in

Transferring a softmod to your Xbox 360 is much easier than installing mod hardware. The Xbox homebrew community has created mods for everything from game cheats to custom dashboards to enabling your Xbox 360 to support homemade games. Although every mod has slightly different installation instructions, transferring the mod software is a straightforward process. To access the hard drive on your Xbox 360, you will need an Xbox 360 transfer cable and Xplorer 360, a free software application.
1. Connect your Xbox 360 hard drive to your computer using the transfer cable. Once connected, launch Xplorer 360.
2. Open the "Drive" menu on the Xplorer 360 toolbar. A drop-down menu appears. Select "Open" and then choose "Harddrive or Memcard." A list of the hard drive partitions will appear in the left sidebar. Select "Partition 3."
3. Check with your mod's user guide or website to find the appropriate folder to store the mod. This folder will most likely be located within the "Content" or "Cache" directory. Click and drag the mods from your desktop to the appropriate folder to transfer them onto your Xbox 360. Depending on the mod you are using, additional configuration may be necessary.
Tips & Warnings
When using software mods, there’s always a risk of major or permanent damage. Read the instruction for the mod carefully before installing it.
If you are caught using a modified Xbox 360, you can be suspended or banned from Xbox Live.
Transferring pirated games to your Xbox 360 is in violation of copyright law. You should only use this method for transferring mods that customize your gameplay experience.
Online multiplayer games are always more fun when you can communicate with the people you're playing with, but a good time can go bad if your headset is malfunctioning. Xbox 360 headsets are designed to be voice activated and should only broadcast when you speak. If you are in a game and other people are complaining about excessive noise from your headset, there are a few simple things you can try to correct the problem.
Check Your Connections
The first things you should check are your physical connections and power sources. Disconnect and reconnect your headset from the controller. If you are using a wireless headset, press the "Connect" button on the console, then press and hold the "Connect" button on the headset to reconnect the headset. If you are using a wired controller, disconnect and reconnect it. Try using fresh batteries; if your device is rechargeable, make sure it is fully charged. You can also try to connect the headset to a different controller. Eliminate Ambient Noise
Since the Xbox headset is voice activated, it could be that ambient noise is causing the microphone to constantly broadcast. Loud music, nearby conversation, noisy appliances and even the game's sounds can cause the microphone on the headset to activate. Eliminate or reduce as much ambient noise as possible and see if the problem is corrected. Heavy breathing has also been known to cause the headset's microphone to activate, so don't keep the microphone too close to your mouth.
Check for Interference
2.4 gigahertz wireless signals from wireless networks and cordless phones, microwave ovens, mobile phones and Bluetooth signals can all interfere with the Xbox headset. Unplug or disable any such devices and see if the headset begins working properly. Even if you're solely using wired devices, certain radio waves and wireless signals can interfere with your headset. You can also try positioning yourself closer to the console to reduce interference.
Defective or Broken Headset
If you have exhausted all of your options and your headset is still malfunctioning, it could be that it is broken or defective. Contact Xbox Support to report your problem. If the headset is still under warranty you should be able to get it replaced. Keep in mind that you will need the headset's product number when you ask for a replacement.
If you want to use your PS2 controller with your PS3 gaming system, you can do so because both systems are manufactured by Sony and they're designed to be compatible. Unfortunately, a PS2 to PS3 adapter won’t work with an Xbox 360, which uses an IBM PowerPC processor and an incompatible wireless controller. The PS2-to-PS3 adapter is specifically designed for PS3 gaming consoles.
Function
A PS2-to-PS3 controller adapter is an accessory that allows you to use a PS2 controller on a PS3 gaming system. These adapters work with a variety of PS2 controllers including Dualshock 2, wireless controllers and guitars for "Guitar Hero." The adapter has two ports. The USB port connects to one of the four USB ports on the gaming console, and the other port connects to the PS2 controller.
Compatibility
The PS2-to-PS3 adapter is not compatible with Xbox 360 systems because the consoles are built around two entirely different specifications. In addition, an Xbox 360 cannot read PS3 gaming discs because they're not compatible. PS3 and Xbox 360 controllers are incompatible as well and use two separate connectors.
Tip
Several third-party vendors sell PS2-to-PS3 adapters. Some of these products may or may not be compatible with the games on which you’d like to use them. For example, an adapter might not be compatible with all versions of "Guitar Hero." Before purchasing an adapter, refer to the product specifications for compatibility information.
Recommendations
Although a PS2-to-PS3 adapter won’t work on an Xbox 360 gaming system, most game titles can be purchased for both the PS3 and Xbox 360. You'll need to buy additional discs to play your PS games on the Xbox 360 console.

Error code E79 on an Xbox 360 means you may have a faulty hard drive. This may be due to the hard drive not being connected correctly and can be fixed in a few steps. If, after following troubleshooting steps, the error does not resolve itself, you may need to purchase a new hard drive.
Instructions
1. Locate the hard drive on the Xbox 360. If your Xbox 360 is laying down, the hard drive will be located on the left hand side of the Xbox 360.
2. Unplug all cables attached to the Xbox 360.
3. Remove any memory units that may be installed on the front of the Xbox 360.
4. Press the "Eject" button located near the hard drive, which will free the hard drive from its locked position. Remove the hard drive.
5. Plug all cables back into the Xbox 360.
6. Restart the Xbox 360, the error code should no longer show up on the screen.
7. Replace the hard drive on the Xbox 360. Ensure the hard drive is firmly in place.
8. Restart the Xbox 360. If the error code appears again, the hard drive has become corrupted and is no longer working. You may still play on the Xbox 360 without a hard drive, although you will not be able to save games or download any materials until you replace the hard drive with a working one.
The Xbox 360 video game system presents error codes that indicate a problem with a specific part of the system within the console. Error 74 relates to the video-scaling chip that is responsible for accommodating various video resolutions, based on the type and model of television that the Xbox 360 is attached to.
* Packing materials to ship console to Microsoft (possibly)
It Could be a Cable Problem
1. Check that your A/V cable is properly plugged in.
2. Turn off the console.
3. Reattach the cable to the Xbox 360 and to the TV.
4. Turn the console back on. If you get the same error message, proceed to Section 2 for information on how to contact Microsoft for a repair.
Scalar Chip Problem
1. Contact Microsoft by calling 1-800-4MY-XBOX (1-800-469-9269). Have your warranty information handy. Tell the representative that your Xbox 360 is reporting a E74 error. The representative may walk you through additional troubleshooting steps. If the problem persists, he will tell you what you need to do to ship your Xbox 360 for repair.
2. Wrap your Xbox 360 in bubble wrap or newspaper to keep it safe during shipping. Use more newspaper or packing peanuts to fill the rest of the box.
3. Mark the box as "FRAGILE" so that transit workers are careful with your Xbox 360.
Which Kinect games should you buy? In this article you'll find the ones that are really worthy of your time!
With Kinect (the new Xbox 360 accessory
from Microsoft) you will be able to play games without any controller,
just by moving your body and hands. Amazing isn't it? Unfortunately, the
new device has been labeled as "very casual" or "without any
interesting games". Is it true? Let's find out which are the best Xbox
Kinect games!
5. Kinect Sports
Like it or not, every "Motion device" must have a sports game. Nintendo did it, Sony did it, and now Microsoft is trying to lure casual gamers with this game featuring many popular disciplines. Some of the best ones are:
-Football (soccer): in this game you control a football player around
a huge field. The objective is to score as many goals as possible by
shooting the ball with your leg. The movement is automatic (you don't
have to do any running) so you must only move your leg when you want to
shoot. There is also the possibility of being a goalkeeper, in this case
you must catch the ball (by doing the correct movement).
-Bowling: in
this one you must make the "throwing the ball" motion and the game will
do the rest. Looks interesting, although a little inaccurate at times!
Kinect Sports will also feature a volleyball, track and field,
javelin throw and table tennis, and it's a good reason to purchase a
Xbox Kinect device.
4. Kinect Adventures
This is a compilation of several Indiana Jones-esque on-rails games. In the ride you must duck to avoid obstacles, jump when needed
and try to grab targets when they get close at you (moving your body and your arms, of course!) Anothyer
cool feature in this game is that a floating camera will appear halfway
through the level. At that point you are supossed to strike a crazy
pose; at the end level you'll be able to see the weird photo and laugh a
it! (at least that's the purpose of it)
3. Dance Central
Dance Central
may look like another boring casual game, but this game could actually
be the key to Kinect's success. It does exactly what you are thinking,
monitor your dance moves and tell you if you are doing it right.
There is a fun competitive multiplayer and many different songs, so (if done right) this could be THE party game and Kinect's main selling point, and definitely among the best Xbox Kinect games.
2. Child of Eden
Child
of Eden is a game with a lot of potential. The premise is simple: a
huge archive with the knowledge of all humanity has been
infected with a strange virus and is at risk of being completely erased. Your
objective is to fight huge hordes of amorphous enemies by shooting and
killing them. The amazing thing here is that you must shoot at the
enemies by using only your hands (Minority Report style), like that "pew-pew" game we all played when we were kids.
It looks really fun and inmersive, so be sure to keep an eye on this game!
1. Star Wars Kinect
A Star Wars game with a motion-controlled lightsaber? Indeed!
The
dream of millions of Star Wars fans may soon come true if this game
lives up to its potential. With all the power in your hands (literally),
you'll be able to fight epic battles against other Jedis and use all
your Force-powered abilities to win.
The graphics seem top-notch too, so Star Wars is looking like Kinect's main "hardcore game" and worthy of the first spot in this "top 5 best Xbox Kinect games" article.
A list of 5 of the best co-op games available for Xbox 360. More and
more Xbox 360 single player games are introducing co-op modes (e.g.
hoard modes) because it seems that we can't get enough of them.
What Makes a Great Co-Op Game?
One
of the most important aspects of some of the best co-op games, in my
opinion, is that they usually have an amazing replay value so that you
don't find yourself sighing when you have to restart it all over so you
can play it with a new friend. In fact, you look forward to it.
The
games chosen for this Top 5 all have a great replay value so you can be
sure to find yourself wanted to play them again and again.
No. 5: Left 4 Dead 2
Left 4 Dead 2's campaign
and multiplayer features are based almost entirely on co-op play. There
is an option to play the various campaigns as a single player with the
other characters being controlled by AI but, especially in harder
difficulty settings the AI dies so regularly that it is frustrating
enough to drive players to the co-op campaigns. Left 4 Dead 2
offers the option to play co-op online with up to four people with AI
taking over if someone disconnects from the game. This can be very
frustrating if you are playing on Expert because if someone leaves a
game in the middle of a fight with a Tank for example, it can really let
the whole team down.
Left 4 Dead 2
made it into this top 5 of best co-op games because it is so much fun
and it places a huge emphasis on the hoard/survival game type that has
proven very popular in the last few years (e.g. Call of Duty Nazi Zombies).
As well as having co-op campaigns, it also includes a co-op multiplayer
with various game types where you can also play as an infected. I
particularly like playing as an infected because it can be pretty
difficult to actually get to the survivors without being gunned down,
making it very satisfying when you do.
No. 4: Spec Ops (Modern Warfare 2)
When Modern Warfare 2 was
released first the Spec Ops mode was popular for a little while, but it
eventually fizzled out and was overshadowed by Call of Duty's ever
popular online multiplayer mode.
I like Spec Ops because a lot of
co-op games are either campaign or hoard based, but Spec Ops was a
whole bunch of different challenges and some of them were really hard to
get perfect. Admittedly, there are some Spec Ops challenges that I
remember only through a haze of frustration. That means it was also
challenging which, in my opinion, should always be a part of a good
video game.
I
think that Spec Ops was a great concept and probably would have been a
lot more successful if it had not been instantly compared to the
multiplayer feature, which was inevitable.
No. 3: Gears of War 2
When it comes to Gears of War, I must admit I find it very hard to decide whether I prefer the original or Gears of War 2. In my mind they are both great, but I have included Gears of War 2 for the purpose of this list of Xbox 360 co-op games because it includes the added bonus of the Horde game mode.
The Gears of War 2
campaign can be played online or via split-screen by two players. I
adored playing the co-op campaign, especially because it allowed each
player to play on a different difficulty setting which is very rare in a
co-op mode. Not everyone is going to be able to keep up on the Insane
difficulty so being able to play on different settings allowed me to
play with more friends and enjoy it a lot more.
The Gears of War 2
Hoard mode is a simple but very effective idea; fight off waves of
enemies with your friends. It is so much fun and does require teamwork
because enemies can, and do, strike from several directions at once.
Players have to plan a defense and watch each others' backs. How could
enemies as meat-shields with your friends not be fun?
No. 2: Resident Evil 5
Some hard core Resident Evil fans may
hate me for this, but I actually really enjoyed playing Resident Evil 5. It
was fast-paced, and very challenging on the higher difficulties -
especially if you are playing with the AI, which in all honestly just
made me wait until I could play with a friend. Upgrading guns and having
infinite ammo gave Resident Evil 5 great replay value. I remember wanting to do it all again almost as soon as I finished the campaign. The
co-op mode isn't limited to split screen either, as it allows you the
option of having other online players drop in and out of your game. The
only time this feature really frustrated me was during one of the
sections where the characters has to do some moves simultaneously and
the other person just refused to be helpful. Unfortunately, this is
simply a risk of playing any game online that requires any amount of
co-operation from other people. Resident Evil 5 had
enough variety in its gameplay, weapon choices and a large enough
selection of enemies to keep me and a friend engaged enough to play it
twice, which is no meat feat in my books.
No. 1: Call of Duty Zombies
I think that the replay value for the Call of Duty Zombies game mode
lies in the fact that you don't have to wait around or get involved in a
story - you find a game and wait for the zombies to start piling up.
This makes it similar to the multiplayer mode as it is almost a form of
grinding – you are simply killing enemies over and over again to get
points so you can buy better weapons and more ammo. Another attraction
is the achievements, which are notoriously difficult and complicated in
the more recent maps, making them all the more fulfilling when you get
them.
The Call of Duty Zombies mode is number one in
this top 5 list because it is unbelievably addictive, and immensely
enjoyably to play alone, with friends or online. Furthermore, it is
still challenging. I can't quiet put my finger on what makes zombies so
addictive, but it seems the designers have found the right mix of a
horde, stand-alone challenges, enemy types and bosses to make a game
that could easily be sold on its own - without being a part of Call of Duty.
Since many gamers nowadays have been raised on consoles, you may
be interested to know that there is an alternative to using the
keyboard and mouse for PC games. You can play PC games with your Xbox
360 controller. Here's a guide on how to do it.
Using your Xbox 360 controller on your PC
Many
gamers nowadays play most of their games on consoles and as a
consequence you might find adjusting to keyboard controls a bit of a
nuisance.
The good news is using your Xbox 360 controller on your PC is easy. Check out the other Xbox 360 accessories to help your gaming experience.
First of all you want to download the software from Microsoft which will allow you to use your wired Xbox 360 controller to play PC games. You can find it at Microsoft Downloads.
Just fill in the relevant details, download the file and install it on your PC.
Some
versions of Windows will automatically detect the controller when you
plug it in and prompt you to update your system with the relevant
drivers. You can try this first if you don’t want to download the
software separately.
Once the software is installed you can plug
your Xbox 360 controller into your USB port on your computer. To ensure
it is working correctly select Game Controllers in the Control Panel in
Windows.
Not all games support the controller; you can check the game manual to see whether your game does.
You can also use your wireless Xbox 360 controller to play PC games but in order to do this you will need to purchase the Xbox 360 wireless gaming receiver. You can purchase it from here.
Downloading Profiles for Easy Configuration
Since
the controller isn’t supported by all games and setting up
configurations for different games can be tricky you can also download
configurations set up by other people which will save you the hassle.
Some of these can be found for free. For example if you want to play
World of Warcraft using your Xbox 360 controller then try out the free Switchblade software from developer Blue Orb.
Alternatively
if you are willing to shell out a little more cash you could opt for
the Pinnacle Game Profiler. This software comes with a number of
configurations for top titles which you can download and makes setting
up your Xbox 360 controller to play your PC games nice and easy. It
currently costs $19.95.
So if you are struggling with mouse and
keyboard controls why not try one of these solutions and use your Xbox
360 controller instead?
After having a 20gb drive for the last 4 years and getting annoyed about having to constantly delete stuff I did something about it. I purchased a nice 250gb laptop hard drive for £30 and used hddhackr on it to enable the 360 to use it.
I think doing your own drive is the way to go as Microsoft charge £89.99 just for the 120gig drive here in the UK, at that price I could make 3x 250gig drives for the same price!
This guide will show you how I did that, its worth mentioning that you can also hack a 20gb, 60gb and 120gb drives, however i think doing a 250gb is the best value for money.
If you have an Xbox 360 slim you can also hack a hard drive using this guide and connect it directly to the console, have a look at the end of the guide for information on how to connect your hacked drive to an Xbox 360 slim.
Ok lets get started, first you will need to buy a hard drive to use in the Xbox 360.
Hddhackr will only work with the following Western Digital Drives:
- WD Scorpio Series BEVS/BEAS
- WD Scorpio Blue Series BEVS/BEVT/BPVT
- WD Scorpio Black Series BEKT/BJKT
- WD VelociRaptor Series
- WD AV-25 Series BUDT
As of version 1.30, Hddhackr now works with all sizes and versions of the Western Digital Scorpio Series.
You can not use another make of hard drive for this hack, it has to be one of the supported Western Digital drives.
I purchased a 250gb WD Scorpio Blue Series drive (WD2500BEVT) for around £30 at CCL Computers.
I would highly recommend you also purchase a Western Digital Scorpio Blue Drive, you have nothing to gain by buying a more expensive drive.
The first thing you will want to do is create a bootable USB drive, for this I used a tool called Bootable USB Drive Creator Tool.
Unzip and load the program, be sure to right click and run as an administrator.
Select your USB drive
Set the file system as FAT
Tick quick format and Create bootable drive
Select the box with 3 dots and choose the USB Drive Boot Files\MS-DOS folder as the location.
Hit start and you will have a bootable usb drive within a few seconds.
For anyone who wants to hack a diffrent size drive here are the security sectors that can be used for a: 20gb drive 60gb drive 120gb drive
Unzip both to the USB drive you just made bootable
Be sure to rename the HDDSS_250GB.BIN to HDDSS.BIN
The end result should be something like this, don’t worry you will not have an UNDO.BIN yet.
You will need to shut down your pc now, I would advise you disconnect all the other hard drive in your computer just to stop you accidently hacking the wrong drive!
Now connect the hard drive you want to hack to your computer
Power your computer back on, before you carry on it might be an idea to enter you bios configuration and ensure the SATA operation mode is set to ATA or disable AHCI depending on the options you have. On some motherboards this can also be called legacy or enhanced, if you are presented with this you want to set it to legacy. This will vary depending on your motherboard / bios.
The above appears to be the most common cause for people not been able to flash there drives.
Now tell your computer to to boot from the usb drive, this will be different depending on your motherboard, on my pc I have to press F11 then select the drive I wish to boot from.
You will find yourself at a dosprompt, type hddhackr and press enter.
All been well hddhackr will have listed all the drives in your system, in my case the drive I want to hack is number 5.
After entering the number you will be asked if you want to dump, flash or restore the firmware, select F to flash.
Type in the name of the security sector you want to flash, this will be HDDSS.BIN if you have followed this tutorial.
You will get a message saying that the information in file HDDSS.BIN does not match the drive’s firmware info. Do you want to flash the Xbox 360 compatible firmware.
Say yes to this:
You will then be asked if you also want to create partition 0/2/3
Again say yes to this, you drive should now be hacked, congratulations!
An UNDO.BIN will have been saved on your USB drive, keep this safe as you will need it for if you ever want to restore the drive back to normal.
Opening the 360 drive enclosure
Now you need to open your Xbox 360 hard drive, you will need a Torx T6 screwdriver to do this.
You can now remove the top, the mechanism to lock/unlock the HDD-bay on your Xbox 360 console might fall out… don’t worry it’s easy enough its put back together, just look how it is in my photo below.
Now you have 4 more screws to remove, these require a Torx T10 screwdriver, you can then remove the metal case.
Now you can unplug the power and sata cable from the drive, then slide it out pulling the drive gentily up as you do so.
You should now have your original drive
If you want to restore the Xbox 1 emulator to your newly hacked drive or your save games you will need to connect your old 360 drive to your computer and boot windows.
If you dont have an old hard drive or simply want to save some time you can download a copy of Hoffmans partition 2 which he uploaded here
Now unzip and right click and run it as administrator.
Select Drive > Open > Harddrive or Memorycard
We are going to backup the Xbox 1 emulator so you will still be able to play Xbox 1 games on the 360.
To do this select Drive > Backup Partition 2 and save the backup.
If you want to backup your profiles, saves, arcade games, demos, dlc and videos you basically want to dump your Partition 3 > Content folder, I had to dump a few folders at the time because Xplorer 360 had random crashes for me.
Now shutdown windows, disconnect your original 360 drive and connect the hacked 250gb drive.
When windows has loaded up again load Xplorer 360 Extreme again, remembering to run it with administrator rights and select Drive > Restore Partition 2 and select the backup you made from your old 20gig drive.
It is important you just close Xplorer360 after that, massing about with anything else will corrupt Partition 3.
Now Download Xplorer 360 250gb Edition, this works fine with Partition 3 on 250gig drives, however trying to modify anything on partition 0 or 2 will just corrupt the drive!! Trust me save yourself some time and don’t do it.
Also don’t use Xplorer 250gig edition on any other sized drive either, it will just corrupt the drive.
If you do corrupt you drive just connect it to your Xbox 360 and format it.
After you have restored any content you can now shut your pc down and put the 250gig drive in your 360’s drive enclosure, it might be an idea to test everything is working correctly before re assembling the enclosure.
The hacked drive:
Connecting to the Xbox 360 slim:
It is also possible to use your hacked drive in the new Xbox 360 slim, with the slim you are not required to insert the hard drive in any enclosure, you can simply connect it to the console.
If you want to buy an enclosure for it have a look on Deal Extreme at the HDD Hard Disk Drive Case for Xbox 360 Slim, if not just read below and connect the drive directly to your 360 slim.
First open the panel at the side, the entry way is on the right side as you look at the Xbox. If you look towards the end of the right side of the Xbox you can see 3 vents you can pull to remove the cover.
If you have the 4gb model, there will be no hard drive in this area. This is the Western Digital Scorpio Blue 250gb hard drive inside the Xbox. Be sure to make sure it’s seated. It may take some time to get it perfectly fit.

Hopefully I have covered everything you should need to know to do this hack yourself, if not feel free to ask and I will try and help.
FAQ:
HDDHackr doesn't work for me:
99% of problems are caused by the SATA chipset on your motherboard or BIOS configurations such as Legacy IDE not been enabled, AHCI been enabled or Raid been active.
HDDHackr still doesn't work for me, can i try anything else?
You can have a look at Harcrofts tutorial on How to Flash Your HDDSS.bin in Windows. Read the tutorial very carefully and do so at your own risk.
Some of my save games no longer work:
The easy solution to this is to move the save game on to the memory card from the old hard drive, if it will let you. Not all saves let you move them between storage devices.
DrDrrae has posted a solution that doesn't require a memory card, Link.
I have attached CONcept and Hash Block Calculator which he says are required. Ive not tested that myself as all my game saves appear to work, fine however people have stated it works perfectly.
I restored my data back however the Xbox 360 doesn't see it?
Have a look at my post here, that explains where your files likley ended up and a solution to get them in to the folder you want.
I want to be able to drag and drop files with Xplorer 360
UAC has to be switched off for this to work, simply running the program with admin rights doesn't work.
To do this in Windows 7 go to Control Panel\User Accounts and Family Safety\User Accounts and select "Change user account settings" Now slide down to never notify and hit ok. You might need to re start your pc for the changes to take effect. Remember to enable UAC again when you are finished.
