Transferring a softmod to your Xbox 360 is much easier than installing mod hardware. The Xbox homebrew community has created mods for everything from game cheats to custom dashboards to enabling your Xbox 360 to support homemade games. Although every mod has slightly different installation instructions, transferring the mod software is a straightforward process. To access the hard drive on your Xbox 360, you will need an Xbox 360 transfer cable and Xplorer 360, a free software application.

Xplorer 360 software (installed)
1. Connect your Xbox 360 hard drive to your computer using the transfer cable. Once connected, launch Xplorer 360.
2. Open the "Drive" menu on the Xplorer 360 toolbar. A drop-down menu appears. Select "Open" and then choose "Harddrive or Memcard." A list of the hard drive partitions will appear in the left sidebar. Select "Partition 3."
3. Check with your mod's user guide or website to find the appropriate folder to store the mod. This folder will most likely be located within the "Content" or "Cache" directory.
